The Spousal Sponsorship Program allows spouses and partners of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to enter the nation. Many factors influence the sponsorship process and criteria. We guide you on how to bring your spouse, husband, or common-law partner to Canada.
Spousal sponsorship requirements differ based on the type of partnership. There are three types:
Spouse:
A lawfully wedded husband or wife is a sponsor's spouse. It's possible that they're Canadians or foreigners.
Common-law husband or wife:
Common-law partners are individuals who are not legally married. The most important requirement is that a couple has lived together for at least one (1) year with no substantial periods of separation. For business reasons, family, or work, either party can leave the other for a limited time.
Conjugal partner:
Due to circumstances beyond their control, a sponsor, unlike in a marriage or a common-law partnership, is unable to marry or live with the conjugal partner. Barriers to immigration, religious and sexual orientation discrimination, conflict, and other reasons could all play a role. Even so, a marriage relationship must exhibit a significant degree of closeness for at least one year. Only a conjugal partner who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident is permitted to live outside of the country.
Requirements for a Sponsored Person:
• To be qualified for applying, you have to be over the age of 18.
• Having a true relationship with a sponsor is essential.
• For the next three years, you can cover your partner's expenses.
Processing Time :
Sponsorship applications are processed by IRCC within twelve (12) months. The clock starts ticking when they receive all of the information and stops when they make a choice. However, if the application is not ready, it may take longer.
