There are some particular countries that made agreements on the trade sector with the Canadian govt. Some of those agreements allow people from those countries to conduct trade-related works while staying in Canada. Nationals of those particular countries can request an LMIA exempt work permit as traders.
Conditions of Eligibility:
The qualities that make a trader qualified to request for a work permit under this program are:
• Trader’s citizenship: The trader has to be a citizen of the following countries- The United States of America, Mexico, Korea, Colombia, Chile, and Peru.
• Ownership: 50% of the principal company (the one the applicant originally represents) has to be under the applicant’s ownership.
• Company nationality: The company will possess the same nationality as the applicants.
• Applicant’s main activity: The applicant’s main activity in Canada should be trading and related works. The trading work should not include the selling or buy of the following things- securities, currency, and negotiable instruments.
• Already existing trade-based association: Canada and the participating country should already have a relationship based on trade. The applicant must not be looking for creating a new connection between the two countries depending on trade.
• Ample amount of trade: More than half of the global trade work directed by the applicant has to be between Canada and the participating country the applicant originally belongs to.
• Working position: The position of a candidate must either be a supervisor or an executive. If not any of the two, he or she must possess an expert level of skill in a necessary sector of work. In the case of an expertized staff, he or she does not need to be primarily appointed to the principal company. The Canadian party can directly appoint the applicant in this case but only if there is no way or time to appoint a Canadian in that post.
