Usually, a work permit is compulsory for foreigners to work in Canada. but there are specific situations where a work permit is not a requirement. The Canadian government has discarded the need for a work permit in some situations or some particular job.
Categories of work permit-exempt:
In the following cases, a work permit is not necessary.<br> • Sportspersons and Trainers: Sports team members, players, and trainers from another country do not need a work permit to come to Canada to join a sports event.<br>
• Aviation accident Investigating Agent: If an investigator comes to Canada to investigate a flight-related accident, that agent will not need a work permit. The investigation must be being conducted under the Transportation Accident Investigation & Safety Board Act.<br> • Business Visitor: If anyone visits Canada to join an international event related to business, that person will not need to obtain a work permit.<br> • Civil Aviation Assessor: It refers to the person in charge of inspecting the cabin and flight security of airlines. This kind of inspector does not need a work permit to conduct their inspecting job.<br> • Campus Worker Student: Foreign students working alongside studying in their institute campus do not have to get a work permit for that.<br> • Students Working Outside Campus: International students can work outside the campus without a work permit. Their working time limit is 20 hours weekly when the universities are open. They can work as full-time workers on the off days of the university.<br> • Assessors & Examiners: Professors or scholars assigned to assess research works or educational projects do not need a work permit.<br> • Judges and Referees: Foreign judges or referees of events involving different nations do not have to apply for a work permit in Canada.<br> • Clergy Member: Clergy members do not need a work permit in Canada.<br> • Convention Arrangers: Foreigners in charge of arranging global conventions and meetings do not need work permits unless their job is to decorate shows, install and uninstall display devices, and give audio and visual services.<br> • Expert Witness and Investigating Agents: if anyone has to come to Canada to give information or evidence in court, getting a work permit is not necessary.<br> • Crew Members: The workers of an international transport company can come to Canada riding the vehicles owned by that company. This has to be completely work-related.<br> • Foreign Ambassador’s Family: Close Family members of foreign ambassadors do not have to get a work permit to work in Canada. But they will need to be approved by GAC.<br> • Foreign Government officials and Ambassadors: A work permit is not necessary for workers of a foreign govt. office in Canada.<br> • Members of Foreign Military: A member of a foreign military force will need a movement order to enter Canada.
